Quotes

• “I love love, love Audrey Hepburn. She’s so timeless and classically beautiful. Geena Davis is also great… Long Kiss Goodnight was a favorite of mine for a while. Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep and Felicity Huffman are some others I look up to.”

• “I really would love to do a piece like Julia Roberts or Charlize Theron in Erin Brockovich or North Country. They were both so amazing and so inspiring. I would love to touch someone in the way they’re performances touched me. Obviously that will be when I play 30 and not 16 so I have time. Also a time piece.”

• “Alice’s wardrobe is a mixture of modern edge with elegance and magic I have the best wardrobe…. I think I’m going to try to take it all back with me!”

• “Favorite Alice moment? Hmm…. there are a few but a moment that always makes me smile is the whole yellow Porsche bit…. it shows a playful warm connection between Edward and Alice.”

On auditioning for Alice: It was one of those monumental things in your life. There are some parts where you’re just like, “This is my part, and nobody can do a better job,” and that was this.

On relating to Alice: I can definitely understand the intensity behind protecting her family. I am really close to my family — my mom, my dad and my brother. My mom and dad are still together, and I had a very solid foundation and upbringing. They’re really supportive, and I love them to death. Alice is the same way with her family. She would do anything to protect them. That was really easy. She’s always happy. And, of course, I get the shopping. Every girl loves shopping. I can’t really relate to seeing the future, although I have deja vu, like no other, all the time. I don’t have premonitions or see the future. As a character, she’s kind of perfect. I try to be optimistic and make people happy, and just enjoy life.

On the Twilight phenomenon: The most surprising thing has just been the amount of passion everybody has. The movie hasn’t come out yet. Usually, as an actor, you get the attention after you’ve released a couple big films. It’s interesting to have that happen before.
